Self-portrait
1. Lecture Recap
A self-portrait is a portrait of an artist created by the artist themselves, usually using painting, drawing, sculpture, or photography. A self-portrait is much more than a simple record of one's appearance: it frequently includes the protagonist's attributes, status, psychology, and aesthetic sense. It is a method of self-reflection, self-definition, and self-affirmation, as well as public communication.

- These are some self-portrait artworks based on visual research showing self-expression.
3. Idea Exploration and Description
- Next, I used words that describe myself to draw a thinking figure.

- After that, I morphed those fonts to make them fit into the body better. I also added a headset to show that she is immersed in her own world.

- Finally, I used the glitch effect to show some connection between real life and the virtual world and to show some fragmentation.

4. Feedback from lecturer
- Ms JinChi did not recommend drawing completely according to the original reference but incorporating my own appearances.
- She suggested that I can add my curly hair, and t-shirts, or hold the mouse in my hands.
5. Final Outcome

- The final design was drawn by incorporating my own features. This work mainly talks about how I am sitting in front of the computer, immersed in the virtual world and not wanting to come out.
- This design has applied design principles such as word and image, contrast, and harmony.
6. Reflection
- I realized that I was not capable of portraying characters, and that many ideas were limited by my abilities. I shouldn't just follow other people's paintings, but have my own independent thinking and ideas. Moreover, I should practice drawing people more, especially different types and angles.
